Hand Forged Iron Christmas Ornaments

When October 13 & 15, 2009 6 pm to 10 pm at the Idea Foundry

No experience necessary

The class will teach basic blacksmithing techniques: Using hammer tongs, anvil and forge, Drawing out a point, twisting and bending hot metal. The participants will take home several projects including candy canes, icicles, and possibly a cross.  This will be a 3-4 hour class for up to 6 people.

Forging young minds in UA

On September 22, 2009, Alex Bandar and Adlai Stein descended upon Upper Arlington High School to give a materials science lecture and a forging demo. As you can see from the pics below, it was a beautiful day to beat on some metal. Much thanks to the Golden Bears and their instructors for hosting the iF!

Project Update: Steampunk Clock Trophy

There has been much progress on the Steampunk Clock Trophy over the past few weeks. The “chassis” of the clock is well underway, and the guts of the clock will be inserted soon. Thanks for the support at Independents’ Day

Independents’ Day Fest

A day-long festival organized by various Columbus arts and community organizations. The Idea Foundry will have a booth, representing our community as well as providing demonstrations, art to sell, and more.

Independents’ Day is a simultaneous effort by active and creative people of Columbus to display their talents and abilities. An all-for-one, one-for-all mentality culminates into a day-long explosion of creative spirit.
