Beginner Welding Class
The class is for people with no welding or power tool experience, and is designed to provide a basic introduction to the techniques required to fabricate a simple artistic metal object. Participants will create their own metal candlestick holder, and will learn to use the following tools and techniques safely and independently:
-how to use an angle grinder for shaping metal parts, cleaning weld joints, deburring, and patterning
-how to use a plasma cutter for carving shapes out of sheet steel
-how to weld steel parts with a MIG (metal-inert-gas) welder
Once a student successfully fabricates this demo project, they may visit the Foundry on their own time to use our welding facilities to build projects of their own design. Month-long memberships as well as day-passes are available.
