Motion Activated Media Robot
The Columbus Idea Foundry was involved in the production of the motion-activated media component of a Samuel L. Jackson robot. The goal of the design was to have the robot reiterate lines from Samuel L.’s movies as a passer-by came within a 2 yard radius of the robot.
To accomplish the design, the iF team used an open source MP3 player (Daisy), open source Arduino embedded control, and a Parallax Ping ultrasonic sensor. The finished product included a Samuel L. Jackson bust, a ticket booth, and the necessary circuitry.
Special thanks to Matt B, Shawn C, and Alex B for their programming know-how and also to Pat D, the artist responsible for the robot’s aesthetics. Photos coming soon!
